EXCURSION

Archaeological guided tour into the Szeleta Cave.


Szeleta Cave is one of the most important "ancient caverns" in the Bükk National Park. The "Szeleta Culture" was originated by the name of this cave, where Hungarian scientific research was started at the initiative of the famous Hungarian renaissance man, Ottó Herman.

During the guided walk, visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the area's most important natural beauties and values, such as plants, animals and karst phenomena.

Participants will get acquainted with the Szeleta shingle, Szeleta cave, which is one of the most important archaeological sites in Hungary (the Palaeolithic Szeleta Culture).


Time: 10 October 2017 at at approx. 9:00 o’clock

Distance: 3.5 km (The walk starts from the Palace Hotel and ends there)

Duration: approx. 2 hours

Clothing: comfortable outdoor shoes (hiking boots recommended), appropriate clothing depending on weather conditions.
